VELKOMMEN TIL OSS!

Greetings!

Eidsvold Lodge #7-53, at Norway House here in Victoria, is a cultural organization. It is one of 330 lodges of Sons of Norway throughout North America and Norway.

It was started by 18 Norwegian immigrants in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1895. The purposes and goals of the founders were to protect members of Sons of Norway and their families from the financial hardships experienced during times of sickness or death in the family. Over time, the mission of Sons of Norway has expanded to include the preservation of Norwegian heritage and culture in our Society. We have grown since our beginning and are now the largest Norwegian organization outside Norway with approximately 60,000 members.

As Sons of Norway members, we are able to reconnect with our heritage, learn about modern Norway, and participate in philanthropic endeavors that make a positive impact in our community here in Greater Victoria.

We welcome everyone of Norwegian and Scandinavian decent, as well as those who have an interest in our heritage and culture, to join us.

Thank you to the City of Victoria Mayor, Council and Staff

The members, executive board and long-term community renters of Eidsvold Lodge 7-53 Sons of Norway would like to express our sincere appreciation and publicly acknowledge the support of the Mayor, Council and staff of the City of Victoria who voted to grant the Permissive Tax Exemption to Eidsvold Lodge for the taxation years 2023 to 2025.  The vote was held on August 4, 2022. This is of significant assistance to Victoria’s Norwegian Canadian cultural centre given these difficult times. It acknowledges the efforts of our dedicated volunteer-run, non-profit society which operates Norway House for the benefit of the many community groups that use our facility on a regular basis, as well as the financial contributions made by members through our society to a variety of local charities.  With the ongoing assistance of Victoria Council and staff we can continue to contribute to the ethnic diversity which makes the City of Victoria one of Canada’s premier cities. Thank you to our community for your continued support.

**Important Note - If you are considering booking the Norway House hall for your event, PLEASE look at our calendar posted above to see if your dates are available before contacting us.

Thank you.
